Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower Theme and Party Ideas

If there’s anything that Winnie the Pooh is known for aside from honey, it’s his predilection for taking tea. In fact, there’s usually a mention of this drink in the Winnie the Pooh books, with one specially dedicated to a friendship tea in the Hundred-Acre Wood given by Christopher Robin for his Friends.

Set the theme using illustrations or stamps from the classic books. Print the invitations on rough papers to make it seem like it came straight from the woods. Either place each invitation in a matching envelope or roll it up like a scroll then secure it with natural abaca string.

Why not create an enchanted woodland to host your Winnie the Pooh baby shower? It’s easy enough with a large collection of potted trees filling the area. Add foresty touches such as artificial birds and plush squirrels to the trees to make them more realistic. Some garden lamps with pillar lamps and wind chimes hung in the corners give an outdoorsy feel.

Over the table, hang a tent canopy or a mosquito net. Decorate both the inside and the outside with artificial greenery and natural decorations such as moss, fungi, and pine cones. Artificial birds add a burst of color to all the greenery. Daisy chains are pretty decorations for the table and the backs of the chairs.

For the centerpiece, create a little woodland scene using river rocks, dried fungi, fresh flowers, and moss. Set the arrangement off-center on a rustic ceramic tray and encircle with pillar candles. If you can, a great touch would be to have a tabletop waterfall as part of the centerpiece.

Use more of the same touches on the buffet table but have a centerpiece of a different kind. Set a small, potted tree on the table and hang candied lady apples from the branches. These can serve as part of the favors for the guests to take home.

Traditional British tea snacks are called for. A selection of cookies, small cakes, sweet and savory sandwiches is all usual fare. Aim for an assortment of five different sweet bites and four different savory bites for each guest. True British favorites would include anchovy butter, potted tiny shrimp, and Cheddar cheese sticks in the mix. Don’t forget the scones with clotted cream and jam!

Since Winnie the Pooh is the star of this shower, however, pay a nod to Rabbit and have some toast fingers served with condensed milk to dip them in. Or go a little more gourmet and spread the toast with condensed milk or dulce de leche and grill them until the milk bubbles. Sprinkle with powdered cinnamon and cut into fingers.

Brisk black tea is a must, since lemon slices as well as milk and honey will be served with it. And as Rabbit always says,”There is always room for condensed milk!”

The favors must echo the theme and one of the best would be that little plastic bear filled with honey. With a bow tied round his neck and a wooden honey dipper attached, it’s a sweet gift that will keep the memories of your Winnie the Pooh baby shower alive for a long time.
